THINGS TO DO
If you find yourselves with some extra time in Bali, here are some insights on things to do and places to visit during your stay.
Uluwatu: Cliffside Romance (ideal time 1-2 days)
Uluwatu is renowned for its awe-inspiring beauty where majestic cliffs embrace the boundless sea – the very reason we chose it as the place to tie the knot.
You will undoubtedly witness mesmerising sunset views, and beautiful temples are scattered throughout this part of Bali.
Recommendations:
1. Watch a traditional Balinese Kecak dance at the Uluwatu Temple
2. Suluban Beach (Blue Point Beach): This hidden beach is surrounded by unique cliffs and is a great spot for surfing.
3. Single Fin Bar – Watch the sunset as you enjoy some great cocktails
4. Savaya beach club, Uluwatu cliffhouse & El Kabron
Ubud: Sanctuary for art, nature and serenity (ideal time to spend 4 days)
Recommendations:
1. Tegalalang rice terrace (more commercialised),
2. Jatiluwih Rice terrace (less commercialised), Visit the UNESCO – listed Jatiluwih rice terraces for a more serene and less crowded experience.
3. Alas Harum – famous tourist destination with many activity
4. Monkey Forest – Explore the sacred sanctuary where you can encounter long-tailed macaques in a jungle setting. The temple complex in the sanctuary adds to the cultural experience.
5. Mount Batur sunrise climb.
6. Campuhan Ridge Walk: Embark on a scenic trek that offers panoramic views of the countryside. It’s particularly beautiful during sunrise or sunset.
7. Tirta Empul Temple: Visit Tirta Empul, a holy water temple famous for its sacred spring water. Locals and visitors participate in purifying rituals in the temple’s bathing pools.
8. Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave): Explore Goa Gajah, an ancient cave adorned with carvings and bathing pools. The site is known for its historical significance and mystical atmosphere.
9. Ayung River Rafting: Experience the thrill of white-water rafting on the Ayung River. Enjoy the lush scenery as you navigate through the river’s rapids.
Avoid: Bali Swing – highly commercialised and only good for a picture, tegalalang rice fields also has a swing which is more reasonable with a better vibe if you must get that shot.
Seminyak & Kuta: Beachside Bliss (ideal time 3-4 days)
Known for sun-soaked beaches, fast-pace lifestyle and trendy vibes. Seminyak is the place to be for boho beach clubs,
vibrant nightlife and diverse restaurants that cater for all.
Great spot for some surf lessons if that’s the way you prefer to stay afloat!
Recommendations:
Food
1. Sisterfields (great for brunch)
2. Chai’ba (great Indian restaurant) for those of you who are missing that spicy kick
Avoid: Queens Tandoor (over hyped Indian restaurant with bland flavours)
3. Potato head Beach club
Canggu: Surfing Paradise (commutable from Seminyak but also a great place to stay) (ideal time 1-2days)
Canggu is the place for surfers and beach lovers!
Canggu blends the surf culture with a vibrant arts scene and is a must for those seeking an eclectic atmosphere!
Recommendations:
1. Finns Beach Club, La Brisa, & Atlas
2. Tanah Lot Temple Tabanan – in our opinion this is the most beautiful temple in Bali, especially at sunset
Gili islands: Tropical Bliss (ideal time 2-3 days)
If you are lucky enough to have enough time to visit Gili we highly recommend! Gili islands, a trio of tropical paradises are surrounded by crystal-clear waters. Great option for those seeking water activities such as snorkelling or diving!
